Abstract (EN)
In different parts of the world, different natural resourses, different production methods and different supply-demand features may exist. These differences, in the course of time, lead to a diversity in production. With the influence of the phenomenon called globalisation, the change which world trade expereinces in time casues alterations in goods and services supplied and demanded in these distinctive places; that is to say, economic geography, globalisation and world trade form their own specific system. In this study, some certain centres contributing to the increase in world trade volume in time have been analised considering the chronological and geographical development. In addition, while analising them, it has also been taken into account how globalisation creates its own economic geography and how world trade is affected by it.The study consists of three parts. In the first part, economic gegoraphy, glolabalisation and foreign trade issues are explained in theoretical context. In the second part, the birth, development and current situation of world trade are studied. In the third and last part, thirty of some certain centres playing a role in the development of world trade volume are assessed. The utmost difficulty encountered during the study is that there is very little amount of available data concerning economic geography in Turkish books and articles. Besides, while analising the trade centres mentioned above, some difficulties in reaching the necessary information about them have been experinced. We hope that this study will guide further studies.
