Abstract (EN)

This study; The aim of this study was to examine the types of recreational activities preferred by academicians working at the university, their participation levels and health beliefs about recreational exercise. A total of 349 volunteer academicians working at Necmettin Erbakan University participated in the study with convenience sampling method. In the study, the Health Belief Regarding Sportive Recreational Activities (SRAISI) scale was used as a data collection tool. According to the findings of the research; It has been determined that the sub-dimensions of health belief (perceived seriousness, perceived barriers, psychosocial benefit, physical benefit and self-efficacy) differ significantly according to the type of activity, the way of participating in the activity, the number of sports days per week, the perceived difficulty during the activity and the reason for participation in the activities. As a result, it has been determined that recreational activities increase the preventive health behaviors, perceptions, self-efficacy levels, physical and sociological and health motivations of academicians. In addition, it has been determined that they have the thought of providing positive benefits both physically, socially and psychologically, and they prefer to participate in activities as a group in order to socialize and gain different experiences.
