The perception of religion in Generations X and Z: The case of Kadınhanı center

In this study, the aim was to identify the similarities and differences in the religious perceptions of X and Z generations, and to provide an additional contribution to the limited number of existing studies on generation and religion interaction. Therefore, the population of the study consists of X and Z generations. Z generation students attending Anatolian High School, Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, Girls' Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, and Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Kadınhanı district of Konya were included in the sample, along with their X generation parents and Z generation siblings. The sample size consisted of 1132 individuals. Qualitative data collection method of "documentary observation/scanning" referred to as literature review and quantitative data collection instrument of "questionnaire" were used in the study. The questionnaire included 85 questions, aiming to reveal participants' demographic and sociocultural profiles as well as their levels of religious perception. The questionnaire results were analyzed using the chi-square analysis in SPSS program, and the findings were presented with graphs. It was found that X and Z generation participants had a high level of religious belief. Additionally, it was determined that the religious lifestyle was more prevalent among X generation, while it was lower among Z generation, and the differences between the two generations and the factors causing these differences were identified.
