Abstract (EN)
In this Master's thesis the observations of the British travellers who came in the Ottoman lands about city and society is examined. The eighteenth-century England is put under the scope to ascertain whether there were same or similar problems that they saw in the Ottoman Empire in their own country or not. This way is seen very important to more correctly understand and explain of their narratives. In this comparative study many publishings which belong to 18th century, the proceedings of the Old Bailey, published archive documents, and secondary sources were used as well as voyagers. A partial picture of the era of that world with the features and the situations of both countries are revealed and it's determined that various interpretations and considerations should be reviewed.
