Cultural and historical origins of XX. century painting theme of loneliness

Loneliness as one of the sociocultural facts of era which we live in is a problem that influences every human being. With the rise of capitalism and technological development human have started perceiving the other as an object and started being alienated. Because of that works of art examined in thesis are examined from the point of historical, sociological, psyhcological and ideologic basis that lays under issues about loneliness. Loneliness which is a basic emotion is identified with new manner and notions parallel to alterations happened in the civilization history. With modernity while loneliness is concidered as a natural sign of alienation, the loneliness of an artist on the other hand can provide positively to creativity of art because it ease introversion and going deep into individuality.When seen in the way of cultural history, aesthetical problems that artist concantrate while creating are not independent to historical and social facts. In some periods of time art turned into a propaganda tool of the power. In some parts of this work, relation of these facts that are effecting production conditions of artist is examined in the light of historical information.
