Analysis of the geomorphological properties of Yalburt Mountain with GIS

Yalburt Mountain is located in the north of the Ilgın district of Konya province. According to the universal grid system of Yalburt Mountain extents between in 394074.63 E - 4262699.69 N and in 414833.85 E-4264293.15 N . The highest point is 1644 m and the lowest point is 64 m altitude difference at 970 m. It corresponds to a karst plateau area around which the villages of the Cavuscule, Tekeler, Gölyaka, Kundululu, Yesiloba, Hursunlu, Aaron and Büyükova are surrounded. Geological formation of Paleozoic metamorphic rocks (marbles) allows the site to come to many karstic shapes. The most common of these forms is the sinkhols. All detected shapes are digitized as polygons in the Geographic Information System (GIS) environment and the calculation of the spatial values of the shapes is foreseen. The Yalburt Mountain elevation has an asymmetrical structure and shows a monoclinal structure characteristic to the north. For this reason, the drainage system shows a long-flowing Dendritic Drainage flowing from the south to the north. The streams are seasonal because the area is karstic and the amount of annual rainfall in the region is around 400 mm and it generally rains in the spring season. Another factor that intensifies the karstification in the research area and provides the appearance of characteristic landforms (karrens, sinkholes, uvalas) is tectonism. The emergence of faults in the direction of NW-SE, especially the young elevations in the Neo-Tectonic period, has affected the karstification positively. According to gained statistical data which are estimated by morphometric calculations related to research topic, maps and graphics are made by CBS software. In conclusion, sultan mountain horst sections which is take place in the south side of the research area, suits the plato area in horst system with akşehir-ılgın graben faultline system which is rises to the north side of the research area. Carstic figures which are located in high altitidues of that area, are rewieved by geologic and geomorphologic aspects in this study. According to morphometric analysis to determine geotectonic properties of the area, depression of the south parts are youth than the depressions of the north parts. On the other hand, Yalburt mountain found in maturity period and until the new epirogenic movements, will undergo to the old age period according to morphogenic analyses of the study area
