The characteristic and problems of local media: Afyonkarahisar example

Local media contributing to socialization and democratization by their functions are increasingly subject to considerations and assessments at every level of society and in scientific circles. But since the day when there is local media there have always been great problems. The media, one of democracy's indispensable ones, has a mission that makes a significant contribution to the development of participatory democracy, which brings local elements and problems at local level, news and commentary realized, attention of local governments and serves as a bridge between local people and local administrators. Naturally, it is important and necessary to identify local media problems and to develop proposals for solutions. The subject of this study is based on the concept of local media and the local media in Turkey. It is based on the development of the local media in Afyonkarahisar and the examination of their approach to these problems with their characteristics and problems. Although research on the concept and problems of local media in Turkey is increasing in general, there is not enough research about the special situations and problems of the local media organizations in the region. In this study, the socio-demographic profile of the media workers working in Afyonkarahisar province was determined and the approaches of the employees to their professions and the problems in the profession were revealed and the problems of the media institutions and the problems they experienced were identified. In the study, a researcher structured questionnaire was applied to the active workers in the media sector and the results were analyzed by frequency analysis and analyzed by SPSS Statistical Package Program. Apart from this, newspapers, radio, television and internet media, which represent the sections of the local media in Afyonkarahisar, have been evaluated. In Karahisar TV, the thesis content was enriched by making a public session program about the problems of the sector. In Afyonkarahisar, special interviews with journalists from the beginning of the profession were made and the problems of the sector were examined and solution proposals were presented.
