Abstract (EN)

Although the basis of Turkish Music instrument training is the meşk system, in today's education process, there is always a need for studies such as methods, etudes and exercises that will improve instrument practice, written systematically and in a certain formation, and which can display the technique and style of the performers of the traditional school. Yorgo Bacanos is a name that became a school by influencing both his time and the generations that came after him with the taksims he made, the instrumental pieces he performed, the soloists he accompanied, and the oud playing style and technique in the recordings of ghazal songs. Today, although there are many professional oud players who have taken the style and technique of this school as an example, there are also many students who listen to Bacanos' recordings and try to practice them. The main purpose of this thesis is to transfer the traditional performance to the present day in terms of style and technique and to contribute to the development of interpretation and technical capacity in the light of Bacanos' performances. The findings in the thesis were evaluated using the descriptive analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. In the first part of the study, general information is given, in the second part, literature review, and in the third part, methods and materials are explained. In the fourth chapter, the life of Yorgo Bacanos and his oud playing, in the fifth chapter, the importance of etudes in instrument training, and in the sixth chapter, the markings and technical decorations used in writing oud etudes are mentioned. In the seventh chapter, which is the findings section, various exercises and studies that will improve the oud technique have been written within a certain classification, based on 2 taksims and 1 piece notated from the performance of Bacanos. As a result of all these studies, new melodic etudes were composed. It is emphasized in the conclusion that writing new etudes in line with the performances of the names of schools in this music culture can contribute to the academic progress of musical and technical development in Turkish Music instrument education in both traditional and modern frameworks.
