The investigation of feeding condition of infants aged between 0-6 monthes

The Investigation of Feeding Condition of Infants Aged Between 0-6 Monthes. This study was carried out descriptive way to evaluate the nutritional status and factors which affect of mothers who have infants between 0-6 months. Population and sample of this study were applied in two private hospital in Karaman between the dates June 15, 2013 and August 15, 2013 by 200 mothers who have infants between 0-6 months and conducted this questionnaire voluntarily. Questionnaire form filled in face to faceby the researcher. Data which was obtained from this study was analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 15,0 programme. Descriptive statistical methods (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi square) were used for evaluating of the data. The age of mothers mostly in the range of 19-24. %54,5 of the babies are girl, and %45,5 of the babies are boy. Average of babies'age (months) is between 4,6±0,16 (min: 0 month; max: 6 months). %94,5 of mothers are still breastfeeding their babies. It has seen that %68,5 of mothers got training about benefits of breastfeeding and supplementary food. It is identified that %95 of mothers feed their babies with colostrum as first food. %51 of mothers are planning to breastfeed their babies for two years. With in the scope of the study, it is stated that %64 of mothers began breastfeeding their babies in the first half hour. %19 of mothers are feeding their babies with supplementary food. It is found that the more mother's education level increases, the more breastfeeding rises. These mothers gave their babies breast milk as first food and they gave milk by milking their breastto the babies who refuse the breast. It is stated that there is not a meaningful relation between the chidren number, mother age and breastfeeding. And the training of breastfeeding effects feeding the babies with brest milk positively. It should be emphasized that it is really wrong to we pacifier while the mother is training her child for breastfeeding. Key Words: Breast milk, breastfeeding, nutrition of infant
