Determine the behavior of the knowns and applications about diabetes and diabetic foot of diabetes patients who applied to 60.yıl and Binevler community health center

It is known that diabetic patients have wrongs about their information of the disease and about their behaviors. Despite this fact, the educational needs of diabetics aren?t supplied enough. Based on this purpose, we made our study ?Foot Care of the Diabetic Patients Apply to Primary Health Care Center and Determination of What They Know About Diabetic Foot and Training of Their Behaviors?. A total of 421 diabetic patients that applied to Binevler and 60. Year Primary Health Care Center have formed the sample. Datas have been evaluated in SPSS 15.0 statistics package programme.%60,8 of diabetics were female, %44,2 of them were 46-60 years old, %97,9 of them were married, %50,6 of them were primary school grads, %57,5 of them were housewives, %35,9 of them were fat (BMI). %89,5 of the patients don?t know the ?glucose disease? as diabetes, %63,7 of them have type 2 diabetes, %59,1 of them have diabetes for 1-10 years. %92,4 of the patients don?t know the effect of exercise on blood sugar, families of %92,6 know what to do when blood sugar increases or decreases. %93,7 of the patients don?t know the signs of low blood sugar, %70,8 of them don?t know the signs of sugar coma and %46,9 of them don?t know what type of insulin they use. %24,2 of them know that when they feel dryness in their mouthes their blood sugar increases and %35,9 of them know that when they feel tired their blood sugar decreases. When the dose of insulin is more than normal; %6,8 of them exercise and %85,7 of them take a nap. %98,3 of the patients come to controls once in every 1-3 months, %76,5 of them know thar skipping the meal may increase the blood sugar. %10,2 of the patients say that they have their feet examined, %71,3 say that they have problems on their feet because of diabetes, %1,4 say that they are being trained about foot care. It has been determined that %23,8 of them have sweating, %63,4 of them have numbness, %8,1 of them have bruising, %3,3 of them have wounds and %16,9 of them have edema on their feet. %63,4 of the patients states they don?t do anything for the edema problem. %80,1 of the patients say they wash their feet 4-6 times a day, %23,5 of them say they do feet exercises, %44,4 of them say they have instability problems while walking. %78,4 of them say they have pains on their calves after a certain time of walking, %53,9 of them say they have pain on their legs when they sre resting, %65,8 of them say they have cramps. %32,5 of them say they dry the betweens of the toes, %18,5 of them say their feet skin is dry, %80 of them say they cut their nails roundly. It is determined that most of the patiens? behaviors were wrong and their information about diabetes and its complications were inadequate. A training that is made by health personnels and have this traininigs continously can be adviced.
