Abstract (EN)

In this thesis conducted using a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, the workplace happiness of academicians was examined. The findings from the quantitative part of the study showed that the overall level of workplace happiness among academicians was moderate to high, and that person-job fit and workplace friendship were the dimensions contributing most to workplace happiness. The findings from the qualitative part of the study revealed that academicians had a quite good person-job fit, experienced feelings of appreciation and personal accomplishment, and had opportunities for self-improvement and demonstrating their performance. Additionally, the happiness of academicians was influenced by the meaningfulness and societal (and student) benefits of their work, as well as their ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships in the workplace. The mixed-method findings indicated that there was mostly alignment between the qualitative and quantitative findings, while some findings expanded upon and explained others, and there were partial contradictions among some results.
