Educational and cultural activities of municipalities; Fatih Municipality example

Besides the classical tasks like roads, water, sanitation etc., Local governments have also many services that will give to the public. One of these services is educational and cultural activities of the municipalities.As a result of educational and cultural activities ,municipalities can be noticed by larger areas. In addition, many local people achieve many acquisitions as a result of these activities.Major part of problems faced by individuals and communities is human origin. Many problems like environmental pollution, terrorism, wars, hunger and diseases come forward as a result of conscious or unconscious decisions and behavior of people. Education and culture are two factors that are active in growing of people and shaping communities.Eventually, the problems faced in the field of education and culture affect individual and social life negatively. As in many countries various educational and cultural problems are faced in our country. Solution-oriented policies produced by the central governments in these areas, are insufficient to obtain the desired result.In this study, works of municipalities as a dynamic actor in the field of education and culture, will be analyzed. In this context, the works that municipalities did in the field of education and culture will be searched. As a result of this study, educational and cultural activities of Fatih Municipality will be evaluated by examining what the duties of municipalities are and how much they give importance to educational and cultural activities.
