Abstract (EN)
This study was planned and conducted to determine the relationship between emotional eating behavior, depression status and anthropometric measurements of a total of 80 adult participants, 62 women and 18 men, aged 18-65 years, who applied to a special nutrition and diet consultancy in Istanbul. Participants; A questionnaire containing demographic characteristics, nutritional habits, anthropometric measurement information, Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-R21), Emotional Appetite Questionnaire (EMAQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and retrospective 24-hour food consumption records were evaluated. Questionnaires were conducted by face-to-face interview method. The mean age is 35,10±12,37 years. According to body mass index (BMI) distribution, 27,4% of women are in the obese category, while 44,4% of men are in the obese category. When the relationship between TFEQ-R21 score and anthropometric measurements was examined, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between weight, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio, BMI and body fat amount. A positive correlation was found between energy intake and emotional eating scores of men in the relationship between food consumption and TFEQ-R21(p<0,05). A significant difference was found between gender and depression(p<0,05). It was concluded that women had higher depression scores than men. It was concluded that the depression levels of the participants who had irregular sleep were higher than those who did not. When the relationship between food consumption and BDE is examined, it has been determined that there is a positive relationship between carbohydrate amount (g) and ratio (%) in men; and with sucrose amount (g) in women(p<0,05). As a result of the analysis, there was no significant relationship between BDI and EMAQ, but significant relationships were found between the emotional eating dimension of TFEQ-R21 and BDI. As a result, a positive correlation was found between emotional eating and depression, and it was shown that as the cognitive restriction score increased, the BMI values of the individuals increased. It is thought that more studies are needed on this subject.
