Abstract (EN)
The fact that trade and cultural exchanges between the three continents are at the crossroads has increased the historical and cultural significance of Malatya. This characteristic has always made Malatya important in all periods of history and has attracted attention. With its natural, historical and cultural abundance, Malatya has an important place in history pages throughout the years with its political identity. After the proclamation of the Republic, Malatya's modernization process has undergone no different from other cities in Turkey. In this process, important social, cultural etc. changes have been experienced. Turkey's modernization process needs to be put forward based on cities as comparative. Malatya has been in CHP administration for many years. In the elections of 1950, 1954 and 1957 the dominance of the country was passed to DP, but this situation was exactly the opposite in Malatya. The fact that Malatya is under CHP control is undoubtedly a clear result of İsmetİnönü's factor. The victory of a CHP candidate in the municipal elections held on June 3, 1946 made it clear that the DP should spend a lot of effort for Malatya. As a matter of fact, when we look at the result of the 1950 general election, even if the DP cannot even get a single candidate, the winning of all the candidates of the CHP supports the scheme. Looking at the general elections of 1954 and 1957, the CHP supremacy in Malatya protected itself until 1960. Although the activity of the DP has shown itself well in most of the country, this situation was incomplete in Malatya. The DP Malatya Youth Wing has been inadequately and Mukhtar elections, municipal elections and the subsequent elections of 1957 also resulted in CHP supremacy. This superiority began to decline gradually after the election of 1957, and especially to the 1960s it was determined that the CHP suffered a serious loss of votes. The resignations that followed, the fluctuations in the CHP, and especially the CHP's use of the party for the sake of their own interests, have shaken the confidence of the people to the party. Multiparty period which started at 1946 has gained a different dimension with May 27, 1960 coup and Turkey is faced with a new formation on behalf of democracy and politics.
