Determination of anxiety, depression levels and fears about COVID-19 of nurses in Iraq

This study was aimed to determine the anxiety, depression, and fear levels of nurses during the The COVID-19 pandemic.. Descriptive and observational design is used in this study . The study population consisted of 192 nurses working in isolation centers for COVID-19 patients in a hospital in Baquba, Iraq. The sample consisted of 129 volunteers. Data were collected using a Demographic Information Form, the Patient ‎Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Fear of COVID-19 Scale-7 (FCS-7), ‎and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). The data were analyzed using the Parametric tests were used, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the independent sample t-test were used, and the person's association between fear, depression, and anxiety was analyzed, and linear regression analysis was performed for the analysis at a significance level of 0.05. It was determined that less than half of the participants had mild depression (37.2%). More than a quarter of the participants had mild anxiety (35.7%). More than a quarter of the participants experienced mild fear related to COVID-19 (31.8%). According to results, it is recommended to conduct comparative studies with larger sample groups to investigate the mental health of nurses in similar settings from different regions.
