Abstract (EN)
Objective: In this study, our aim is to examine whether meteorological measurements, air quality measurements in Diyarbakır city center in 2019 and the number of admissions to hospitals due to respiratory system and cardiovascular system diseases in the same year are related to each other. Materials and Method: The research is descriptive and correlational. PM10 and SO2 measurement results T.C. Retrieved from the website of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change havaizleme.gov.tr. The measurement results of meteorological parameters were requested from the 15th Regional Directorate of the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The number of applications that received the relevant ICD-10 diagnosis codes from the records of 4 public hospitals in Diyarbakır city center were determined and included in the study.. Correlation analyzes were performed to determine the relationship between the number of hospital admissions, air quality parameters and meteorological parameters. Results: While there was a positive correlation between the number of admissions to hospitals due to COPD, asthma and acute myocardial infarction and SO2 measurements, no significant correlation was found between PM10 and the number of admissions to the disease. A statistically significant relationship was found between hospital admissions due to respiratory and cardiovascular system diseases and mean pressure and relative humidity, and a statistically significant relationship was found between mean temperature and negative direction. The relationship between the number of hospital admissions due to COPD and asthma and the mean wind speed was negative and significant. There was a positive correlation between SO2 and mean pressure, and a negative correlation between mean wind speed and temperature. Conclusion: A statistically significant correlation was found between the monthly average of SO2 measurements and the monthly averages of hospital admissions with the diagnosis of COPD, asthma and acute myocardial infarction. Keywords: PM10, SO2, hospital admissions, meteorology
