El-Bâbûsü'l-Vasît fî Tercümeti'l-Kâmûsu'l-Muhît (27/b-52/b, 141/a-143/b, 246/b-277/a)

From the past to present, dictionaries show the level of education and knowledge of the society, in which it, revealing relations with other languages and societies. Dictionaries prepared throughout the history of Turkish Language and Literature are works, that are included the vocabulary and some of the rules of grammar of our language, take part in the main references sources. Between 15th and 16th century period accepted as the last period of the Old Anatolian Turkish and beginning of the Ottoman Turkish is a period that has a great importance for Arabic-Turkish dictionaries. In these centuries, various grammar books and dictionaries began to be written. With the transition of Turks to the Islamic, for the strenghtening of relations with Arabic and in order to understand the Qur'an, many Arabic-Turkish dictionaries have been written. Correspondingly, the Ottoman period Arabic-Turkish dictionary writer tradition started to take its first steps in this period and especially, the famous dictionaries were taken in this period. Merkezzâde Ahmed Efendi created his work and he used to Fîrûzâbâdî's El- Kâmûsu'l-Muhît dictionary as a source. Merkezzâde Ahmed Efendi gave El-Bâbûsü'l-Vasît Fî Tercümeti'l-Kâmûsu'l-Muhît name to his work. İn our research, we intented to examine the following pages of the work based on the transcription: The pages (27/b-52/b), (14/a-143/b) and (246/b-272/a). This study is one of the works which has revealed the vacabulary of the period and helped to determine the language features of the period on the 16th century Ottoman dictionary works. The research, that is based on the work, has a great importance on Turkish Language and literature department, Arabic Language and literature department and Theology faculty.
