The relation between attachment styles, offensiveness behaviors and the level of depression of in adolescents

The aim of the study is to investigate the link between offensiveness behaviors and the level of depression considering the attachment styles in adolescents. Our sample consists of 68 females and 51 males, in total our sample consists of 119 adolescents who live in Şırnak in 2015. For data collection and in order to investigate the offensiveness behaviors, Offensiveness Scale is used, with the aim to investigate the level of depression, Depression Scale for Children is used. Additionally, personal information form is used in order to search for some demographic variables. According to the findings of the study, it turned out that there is no significant difference between the styles of attachment and offensiveness behaviors and also it is revealed that there is no meaningful difference between the offensiveness behaviors and the level of depression but it is revealed that there is significant difference between the styles of attachment and the level of depression.Individuals who have anxious attachment style is found to be higher depression level compared to others. We can summarize the findings which we have got in terms of demographic variables as such: On the one hand, the level of anxious attachment style is found to be higher in females compared to males on the other hand, the level of obsessive attachment style is found to be higher in males. While male's physical offensiveness is found to be higher compared to females, female's offensiveness tendency is found to be higher compared to males. According to children's depression scale; female's depression level is found to be higher than the male's. As individuals gets older, the level of anxious attachment style, physical offensiveness, oral offensiveness and the level of offensiveness increase as well. When individual's level of education increases, their offensiveness level decreases accordingly. The level of income of families is negatively correlated with the level of obsessiveness of adolescents, in other words, when their families income increases, adolescent's offensiveness behaviors decreases. Besides, while family's income increases, depression level of adolescents increases as well. KeyWords :Adolescent, Attachment, Offensiveness, Depression
