Financing of the ethnic terrorist organizations: The case of IRA, ETA, PKK

Terrorism is no longer a threat today, it has become a danger that affects the whole world. The main resources of terrorist organizations, which are basically ideologically, ethnically and reli-giously defined, to carry out their activities in the international arena are their financial sup-port. Terrorist organizations need large amounts of financial support to achieve their goals. Terrorist organizations have used the resources of exaction collecting, extortion, robbery, theft, migrant smuggling, human trading, arms trafficking, drug trafficking, money launder-ing, fundraising and due collection, earning income through the media, and engaging in com-mercial activities in order to achieve their goals. The main purpose of this thesis was to exam-ine the financial support of terrorist organizations and the international organizations estab-lished in order to prevent the financial support provided to the organizations. In order to achieve this goal, firstly, the reasons for the emergence of ethnic terrorist organizations and the financial resources of IRA ETA and PKK organizations, which are defined as ethnic ter-rorist organizations, have been analyzed.
