Abstract (EN)

Etruscans whose ethnic arguments have not been resolved yet, have been the focus of severel and various reserch and influenced worldwide thanks to their well-preserved works of art. Etruscans, seen in history in the middle parts of Italy and in the area where the rivers Arno and Tiber form a natural border in the 7th centuty BC, got the power and became stronger with the Eastern trade thanks to their geopolitical position and their commercial abilities. Between 7th and 6th century BC, they set up commercial cities here with the expansion of North and South. They reached the most powerful era in the 6th century BC in terms of the political, economic and cultural periods. During this period, the sea was fundamental to the success of Etruscan supremacy in excessive trading on Mediterranean Sea with the agreement with the Carthage. In the 5th century BC they were strengthened in the inner part. However, they lost power with the sea battle with naval power in Siracusa on the Mediterranean Sea in the 4th century BC They could not resist the pressure from the Romans in the South and from the Gauls in the north. They made an agreement with Rome against Gauls in the year 310 BC and Etruscan lands began to be included in the Roman territory. In the 2 nd and 1st century BC the tendency of the assimilation of the culture of Etruscans took place in Rome. Leaving behind a bumpy period in the historical process, Etruscans reflected the traces of the culture found in the overseas trade of cultural works of art with their own styles. The best examples which we can see the traces of culture areEtruscan underground catacombs and frescos used on the wall decoration of catacombs.
