Evaluation the functional activity of prostate and fertility in Iraqi mens with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Prof. Dr. Hazar Shakir SALEH April 2022 The aim of the study is to evaluate and study the effect of Diabetes Mellitus on fertility and the effect on the risk of prostate cancer, as well as to study the relationship between some parameters in Diabetes Mellitus patients. The present study was carried out on 90 male subjects. All samples were collected in Thi Qar Teaching Hospital, over a period from March 2021 to September 2021, and this study contained two groups, the first of which included 60 Diabetes (T2DM) samples and the second of which included 30 healthy subjects. The mean and standard deviation age in diabetic patients was (61.01 ±7.54) and in the control group was (54.36 ±6.76). The PSA results of patients group (type 2 DM) and controls group (non-diabetic) were (0.94 ± 0.49 ng/ml; 1.02 ± 0.76 ng/ml), this result was a significant statistical (P 0.002). The patient shows a lower mean for testosterone hormone (3.91 ± 1.86 ng/ml), compared to the healthy (non-diabetic) group (5.38 ± 2.27 ng/ml). The patient group shows a higher mean (17.12 ± 4.16 nmol/L), in contrast to the control (non-diabetic) group (11.64 ± 2.47 nmol/L). In our paper appeared that people who have type 2 diabetes have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer. moreover, expected that the decrease in the level of the testosterone hormone may contribute to impaired performance, mood, and libido. 2022, 55 pages Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, Prostate, PSA, Blood sugar, Testosterone Hormone
