Abstract (EN)

The archetypal theory put forward by Carl Gustav Jung for the first time takes place in the literature criticism. From the theory searching the common behaviors of human being, the authors like Frye, Fiedler and Bodkin are also mentioned in literature. The archetypes, which are a product of collective unconscious, are embodied through mythology and symbolism. The theory, which is a product of contrasts, is used as a criticism in genres such as novel, story, tale and poem. The second new poetry considered as an important movement of the Turkish literature of Republic Period, brings along a lot of novelties. Surrealism, humor, irony, image density, pointless poetry, the conception of not writing poetry for the public are some of them. Cemal Süreya, Sezai Karakoç, Edip Cansever, Turgut Uyar, İlhan Berk and Ece Ayhan who are mentioned in this conception of poetry, are reflected to readers with similar features by literary circles. The poems of poets carry many examples in archetypal terms. Especially, sexuality, rebirth, hero, wise man, anima and the archetypes of shadow are frequently encountered in the second New Poetry. The archetype of ''hero'' is talked over with the approach of Joseph Campbell who is accepted as an improver of the theory. With heroes, the other two archetypes in poems are archetypes of shadow and anima. The archetype of anima that reveals the feminine aspect of human being brings along mother, woman, love, sexuality, and goodness. The shadow archetype has opposite features of anima. The shadow serves badness in human 'persona'. Symbols and many other archetypes come to exist with the conflict of shadow and anima senses. The common meanings of symbols appear in The Second New Poetry and there may also be individual differences. Analyzing The Second New Poetry with the perspective of archetypal critique will present an original approach to reader. This study creates a different reading to reveal the relationship between literature and psychology.
