İngilizce öğretmenliği dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin yabancı dildeki kelime bilgileri ile üretimsel ve algısal eşdizim bilgileri arasındaki ilişki

The current study was undertaken in pursuit of investigating the difference between participants' receptive and productive collocational competence and their correlations with receptive vocabulary size and finding the best predictor/s of receptive and productive collocational knowledge among some variables (congruence, corpus frequency, collocational pattern). To address those issues, 102 Turkish 4th grade ELT students, studying at Anadolu University, took part in the study. Moreover, adjective-noun and verb-noun collocational combinations, which were categorized based on their congruence, were chosen for the study. The data were gathered by means of a vocabulary size test, a productive and a receptive collocation test. The data analyses displayed that students' receptive collocational knowledge were better than their productive collocational knowledge. Another finding was that the result of the receptive vocabulary size test, which was utilized as a language proficiency test in the study, was highly correlated with both their receptive and productive collocation tests' scores. As for the last finding, it was revealed that congruence with L1 and collocational patterns were influential predictors of receptive and productive collocational knowledge. On the other hand, it was revealed that corpus frequency did not correlate to the participants' receptive or productive collocational knowledge.
