Investigation of user satisfaction in mass housing: The case of TOKİ

In our country, rapid and unplanned urbanization occurred with the increase in migration from rural to urban areas which is defined as 'the urbanization of labor' that started in the 1950s and continued until today; and as a result, housing need emerged. In addition, the consequences of the major disasters in the country's history have led to a serious consideration of the housing and settlement problem. For these reasons, the solution of the housing problem was sought in mass housing production. Mass housing production rapidly increased after the Mass Housing Law entered into force in 1981 and the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) founded in 1987. TOKİ continues to carry out mass housing projects in response to housing needs in today's conditions. TOKİ houses have been chosen as the subject of the study for the reason that they accommodate people from different socio-cultural and economic levels. In this study, it is aimed to determine and evaluate the satisfaction levels of the residents of Tokat TOKİ houses. Within the scope of the research, a survey was conducted with 276 randomly selected users, survey results were analyzed with SPSS program according to block types and architectural floor plans, considering residential environment and transportation status and the results were evaluated in detail. In the conclusion section, suggestions were made for the design of more livable housing areas in the light of the data obtained.
