Validity and Reliability of Turkish Adaptation of Animated Activity Questionnaire in Patients with Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis

The aim of the study was to determine the validity and reliability of Turkish adaptation of Animated Activity Questionnaire (AAA-T) in people with hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA). The study was performed on 200 patients with hip and/or knee OA. Sociodemographic characteristics of the patients were recorded and AAA-T and The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) were applied to all patients. Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score-Physical Function Short-Form (KOOS-PS) and Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score–Physical Function Short-Form (HOOS-PS) were applied. Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), Stair Climbing Test (SCT) and 30-Second Chair Stand Test (CST) were also performed. After 7 days, 40 participants were replied AAA-T. Internal consistency and test-retest measurements were performed to determine reliability. In order to determine the validity, factor analysis was performed and the correlation of AAA-T with other measurement methods used in the literature was examined. Among the test-retest results, ICC was 0.971 (95% CI: 0.945 - 0.985; p˂0.001). The internal consistency value of Cronbach-alpha was found to be 0.947. The Turkish adaptation of the AAA was found to be single factor as in the original. The correlation values of AAA-T with WOMAC, KOOS-PS, HOOS-PS questionnaires were found to be 0.59, 0.59 and 0.49 respectively and all were moderately correlated. The correlation values with SCT and CST performance tests were found to be 0.53 and 0.58 respectively and had a moderate correlation with the two tests, the correlation value with TUG performance test was 0.63 and the correlation level was high (p <0.001). As a result of the analyzes, it was concluded that Turkish adaptation of AAA was valid and reliable in individuals with hip and knee OA.
