Özet (EN)
High mobility group box (HMGB) proteins are multifunctional nuclear proteins. In the eukaryotic cells, HMG B1 is located in the nucleus, cytoplasm and extracellular space. It modifies gene transcription, DNA replication, repair and recombination. The presence of HMG B1 has been studied in various cancers. It performs different pathogenic roles in malign tumor occurrence, tumor spread and angiogenesis. In this study, we hypothesized that, a research which show the levels of HMG B1, in peritoneal washing fluids in gynecologic pathologies obtained during procedure of tumor surgery, may be important to prediction of determining the malignancy. In this study, it was evaluated concentration of HMG B1 in peritoneal washing fluids in malign and benign gynecologic pathologies as a biochemical marker. A total of 67 patients who had been admitted in gynecology clinic were evaluated. Patients with gynecologic tumoral pathologies were grouped as benign and malign group, according to pathological data. HMG B1 concentrations were measured in samples by using a commercial ELISA. Concentrations of HMG B1 proteins in peritoneal washing fluids were compared between these two groups. In conclusion, these findings demonstrate that levels of HMG B1 protein in peritoneal washing fluids obtained during tumor surgery in the patient with malign gynecologic pathologies are statistically higher than benign group (p<0,05).
