Abstract (EN)

Current method options in the treatment of Lumbar Disc Protrusion aim to improve the daily life functions of the patient. Physical therapy modalities and recently kinesiologic taping methods have gained popularity in Lumbar Disc Protrusion, in which so many physical medicine methods are used in the treatment. For this purpose, Physical Therapy Modalities and many various kinesiologic taping methods are available. This study was performed to research the effects of physical therapy modalities and kinesiologic taping pain, functionality and quality of life in patients with Lumbar Disc Protrusion. Forty patients were included in the study. Patients were randomized into two groups according to the study criteria. Only 20 patients in the first group underwent physical therapy modalities (hot and cold application, ultrasound, tens) and 20 patients in the other group underwent field correction technique. Demographic characteristics of the patients were taken. Pain severity, Visual Pain Scale and Oswestry Pain Scale were assessed. Patients were evaluated before starting treatment. Patients were treated for a total of two weeks. Physical therapy modalities were applied to the patients in the first group for 2 weeks, 5 sessions per week and 45 minutes per session. The patients in the second group were applied 3 times at intervals of 2 weeks. There was a statistically significant improvement in the first group before and after treatment. According to the results of the study, physical therapy modalities decreased pain in patients with Lumbar Disc Protrusion more than kinesiologic taping. However, further studies may be needed on this subject.
