The relationship of ergonomics education with musculoskeletal disorders in vocational teachers

The purpose of this research is to specify Musculoskeletal System Disorders of Vocational Teachers in various branches, to analyze the relation of the disorders with Ergonomics Education, and the relation of vocational teachers' working position and conditions, demographic features, life qualities and depression status with Musculoskeletal System Disorders. The research is the one with pretest and posttest control group, and educational intervention which will be done the measurements of physical assessment and evaluation. The research has been done on 101 people in total in Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools in Rize- Merkez. Data in research has been acquired by way of Personal Data Acquisition Form, Quick Whole Body Evaluation Form, Extended Nordic Musculoskeletal Survey, Beck Depression Survey and Quality of Life Scale (SF 36). The rate of musculoskeletal system complaints according to the body parts of the participants is on neck, waist, back and shoulder in order from the largest to smallest. While musculoskeletal system complaints have been decreasing regardless of danger class as a result of ergonomics training, the complaints in control group have not altered. It is seen that all teachers in research are in intermediate risk group (4-7 score interval) both pre-training and post-training according to HTVD score interval, and HTVD score has been lower in both groups at the end of the research than pre-training. It is observed that the participants in research have not predicate depressive symptoms according to Beck Depression Scores.
