Mythological and legendary elements in Nedim Divan

Old Turkish Literature not only restrained on a few stereotypes, but also disseminated Eastern, Western and Turkish mythologies, myths and aesthetics with the disciplines such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, geometry, astronomy, geography, history and philosophy. The positivist phenomenon of the 19th century and the pre-modern science, like all societies of the world, have benefited from mythological and legendary elements in explaining a number of issues. The sources they feed are quite diverse. Both Eastern mythology, Turkish mythology, Persian mythology, Greek mythology, Islam and other religions and the legends around these narratives are among these sources. We also see these elements in the poems of 18th century poet Nedim. Nedim often used mythological and legendary people as a comparative material to praise his memduh. Often, this comparison was won by memduh. From mythological and mythical elements, not only to individuals, but also to some other mythological and legendary past, meaning animals and creatures, trees, flowers, precious stones, and some objects has extracted from the poem material. In our study, we have given the most prominent narratives, not all narrations of these elements in general. Sometimes memduh, sometimes lover, sometimes in love, and sometimes by using the metaphor for his own poetry, these mythological and legendary mazmunu, we have evaluated the couplets that contain the remembrance.
