Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the relationship between the scientific literacy and achievement at science and technology lesson for the 7th and 8th grade students who are at the second level of primary education and also it analyses science and technology teachers? views on science literacy. 1780 7th and 8th grade students participated in this study which has been conducted by descriptive research model. Science and technology success test for the 7th and 8th graders developed by the researcher has been used. Besides, scientific literacy scale developed by Keskin (2008) and the questionnaire by Dindar and Yangın (2007) have been used.In this study, personal information forms according to the students? demographic report (gender, classroom level, parents? educational level, monthly income of the family, the duration of benefiting from a course, benefiting from science and technology materials) has been prepared, the relations of FTBT and BOÖ to these dimensions have been investigated. Following the pilot application of the test and scales used in the study, FTBT and BOÖ was applied to the students and science literacy questionnaire was applied to the teachers during 2010-2011 academic year.In line with the results derived from BOÖ and FTBT meaningful differences has been found out in terms of many demographic characteristics. A meaningful relationship between BOÖ and FTBT has been reached.Furthermore it has been observed that as a result of the scientific literacy questionnaire applied to the teachers a meaningful difference has not appeared between questionnaire points and the findings in relation to the teachers? gender and working time.
