Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of 5E learning model based on constructivist approach on the development of proof skills in geometry on 7^th grade students. Circles were chosen as subjects. The study was carried out with 34 students in to different classes of the 7^th grades of a secondary school in a district of the western Black Sea Region in the spring term of 2017-2018 academic year. The experimental and control groups were selected randomly. In the study, mixed method including quantitative and qualitative research designs was used. In the experimental group the lessons were conducted with the materials developed in accordance with the 5E learning model whereas in the control group lessons were conducted according to the methods and models advised by the textbooks based on mathematics curriculum. Proof skills evaluation test was used on the students both groups as the pre-test before the study. The same test was used again as the post-test at the and of the study. In addiation, a structured questionnaire was applied to the experimental group at the end of the study. In the analysis of the quantitative data, the facts obtained by using independent samples t-test were interpreted at the level of 0,05 meaning fulness level. As a result of the statistical studies, it is seen that lesson activities about circles prepared according to the 5E learning model have no significant effect on the development of the proof skills of the students in geometry. However, it was observed that the answers or experimental groups students were more qualified.
