Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to determine the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviors and work life balances of school principals and teachers working in state kindergarten, primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Ödemiş, İzmir. With this research, it is planned to determine the level of organizational citizenship behavior and the level of work life balance in terms of demographic characteristics of teachers and whether there is any difference in terms of gender, duty, education level, seniority, working time in the school, branch, type of school and age variables and the relationship between these two concepts. The universe of the study consists of school administrators and teachers working in public kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school schools operating in Ödemiş district of İzmir province. The research was applied to the whole universe. The sample was conducted on 535 volunteer teachers. The Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale was used to determine the levels of organizational citizenship behavior of teachers and the Work-Life Balance Scale was used to determine the level of work-life balance of teachers. Data obtained from the scales were analyzed using SPSS 18 program. Descriptive statistical methods (frequency, mean, standard deviation) were used to evaluate the data of the study. In the selection of the sample participants, the education levels were classified by stratified sampling method on the basis of village and city center, and were carried out on 535 teachers in selected schools. In the light of the data obtained, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance (Anova), tukey test, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the hypothesis tests. As a result of the research, it was determined that teachers had positive opinions about organizational citizenship behavior but their levels were not very high. The levels of organizational citizenship behavior of teachers do not differ significantly according to gender, job status, education level, seniority, working time in the school, branch, school type and age variables. On the other hand, the teachers' work life balance levels are moderate. While there is no significant difference in work life balance and sub-dimensions according to seniority and branch variables; at work life compliance sub-dimension according to task and age variables; at life neglect sub-dimension accorging to gender, working time in school and type of school; at life consisting of only work sub-dimention according to educational status; in terms of work life balance, it was determined that there is a significant differentiation according to task and age variables. In addition, there was no significant relationship between the organizational citizenship behavior of the teachers and the work life balance, but there was a significant low-level significant relationship between life neglect and organizational citizenship behavior. On the other hand, a significant low level negative correlation was found between organizational citizenship behavior and self-time sub-dimention, life consisting of only work sub-dimention. Because of the determination of these low-level relationships, it is also examined that these variables are predictive of one another. In the regression analysis, it was found that work life balance predicted self-time and life consisting of only work subscales negatively predicted organizational citizenship behavior at low level, and life neglect sub-dimension positively predicted organizational citizenship behavior at low level. As a result, while the organizational citizenship behavior of the teachers does not show significant differences in terms of demographic variables, it can be stated that the work life balance and the sub-dimensions differ significantly according to some variables. Besides, while the relationship between teachers' organizational citizenship behavior and work life balance is not determined, it can be said that some sub-dimensions of work life balance predict organizational citizenship behavior at a low level.
