Factors affecting the level of self-confidence in school administrators: A case study in Trabzon

The "self-confidence" that is the architect of the rapid changes in today's world continues to be one of the most basic features of the development of human personality. School administrators, who keep up with changing conditions, adapt to the innovations of education and understand the changes brought about by globalization and encourage creativity, need to have the ability to give self-confidence to school staff in the framework of the regulations prepared by Ministry of National Education. "Self-confidence" is, literally, a general personality trait, such asbelieving in oneself and abilities. In this study, it has been researched that how demographic characteristics of school administrators working in elementary, junior and high school effect their level of self-confidence. Population of this study is limited to 187 administrators who work in primary, secondary and high schools attached to Ortahisar District Directorate of National Education in Trabzon city. 155 male and 32 female administrators have been participated in the study. The range of their age is 30 -60 and the average age is 45,86. Statistical analysis has been carried out by transferring data collection tools SPSS 16.00 (Statistical Package For Social Sciences) to the package program. Study data has obtained by Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Independent t test, F (ANOVA) and non-practice Menn Whitney U and Kuskall Wallis H tests. Quantitative method, relational screening model were used in the study. In the analysis, it has been observed that male managers were more than female managers, and female managers had a higher internal self-confidence than male managers but not statistically significant.Based on the results of the study, it is ascertained that there is not a meaningful relationship between administrators' demographic characteristics and self-esteem levels.
