Evaluation of schools' natural gas-fi̇red boi̇ler rooms i̇n terms of occupati̇onal health and safety

The Occupational Health and Safety Law regulates the duties, authorities, responsibilities, rights and obligations of employers and employees to ensure occupational health and safety in workplaces and to improve existing health and safety conditions. School/institution directorates are also obliged to ensure the safety of teachers and other employees working at the school and students studying in the school building and garden by protecting them from all kinds of risks and dangers. Natural gas-fired boiler rooms are among the parts of the school building where the heating system is located and contain some risks and dangers. Considering these risks and hazards, the observation form consisting of 28 questions was prepared according to school / institution buildings, natural gas risks and hazards and heating system risks and hazards. In line with the prepared observation form, field work was carried out by visiting the natural gas boiler rooms of schools / institutions in Amasya Province and its districts. As a result of the evaluation, the suitability of natural gas boiler rooms in schools / institutions in terms of occupational health and safety was examined. In addition, according to this result, opinions and suggestions were expressed about the measures taken and to be taken on occupational health and safety. In line with the opinions and suggestions, the actions to be taken by school administrations within the scope of occupational health and safety to ensure safety conditions in the boiler room were explained.
