The perception of distributed leadership of secondary school teachers, (Master thesis)

The organizations in education have been deeply affected by the recent developments in science and technology. In this sense change and improvement inevitably emerge as important concepts that should be considered by organizations. Especially the adaptation of schools toalterations is directly connected with the leadership characteristics of school administrators. Within this scope the evolution and application of school management and leadership approaches through historical processare discussed and scrutinized in the first part of the paper. Particularly, nowadays, approaches that use a leader as a source are inefficient in terms of adapting to changes and improvements. Thus, the need of revision of these approaches is discussed to head towards the perception of distributed leadership. The aim of the study is to ascertain the level of fulfilment of principals' distributed leadership roles, in accordance with counsel of secondary school teachers. Scanning method is used during research. The research is conducted in company with the teachers at state secondary schools in center of Rize, Çayeli, Pazar, Ardeşen and Hemşin counties during 2015-2016 academic year. As part of research convenience sampling is used and 300 teachers are contacted. 280 of 300 given survey sare returned and the data of research is based on these surveys. Toanalyze the data of research, frequency "%" is used; in case of normal divisions of data independent T-Test and One-way variance analysis is used, and in case of abnormal divisions of data Kruskal Wallis-H Test and Mann Whitney-U Test are used. Results of research shows tha tsome of teachers believe that administrator sare fulfilling some of the requirements of distributor leadership, while some other teachers faced with the dilemma of whether the administrators has fulfilled the distributor leadership role or not.
