The effect of altruistic values on environmental beliefs, environmental concern, and environmentally responsible behavior

Tourism-based activities can cause negative effects on a destination. Understanding and increasing environmentally responsible behavior of tourists is of vital importance in reducing these effects and ensuring the sustainability of tourism destinations. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of domestic tourists' environmental attitudes on environmentally responsible behavior. Convenience accidental sampling method was used to determine the sample within the scope of the research design developed by using the cross-sectional survey model. In this way, 555 valid questionnaires were obtained from the survey study conducted with domestic tourists who spent their holidays in Antalya. As a result of the research, the network of positive relationships between the variables in the model developed based on the literature was revealed. Direct and indirect effect of environmental altruistic values on environmental beliefs, environmental concern and environmentally responsible behavior were determined. The findings are also supported by the previous literature.
