Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on the lyrics collection titled "Rehber-i Hânendegân Yahut Şarkı Muallimi", housed in the Kütahya Municipality Mustafa Hakkı Yeşil Library. The lyrics collection's transcription and content analysis from Ottoman Turkish to contemporary Turkish were conducted. The collection consists of 10 sections and a total of 160 pages. The works in the collection were compared with contemporary notation. The results obtained are as follows; The findings are listed under the headings "Works Found in the Collection with No Surviving Notes," "Works with Lyrics Found Nowhere Else Than the Collection," "Works with Altered Lyrics Today," and "Works Attributed to Others." The collection also contains five songs with Arabic lyrics. These songs have been transcribed and translated into Turkish. The composers, makams, usuls, and musical genres included in the collection are examined under relevant headings. Within this framework, the study aims to both preserve the original structure of the work and present it to contemporary readers, while also systematically analyzing the collection's musical content. Thus, the work is not merely a translation study but also an examination of the musical understanding of the period. Lyric collections are one of the most important sources that enable us to understand the musical culture of the period in which they were compiled. Therefore, transcribing and examining lyrics collections is crucial. The primary purpose of this study is to examine and present the information contained in the collection.
