The effect of patient-physician communication on the decision-making process in health services, the example of Gaziantep province

The aim of the study is to establish patient communication and physician decision-making processes.In the study, a semi-structured interview form was used within the scope of qualitative research method. 10 physicians working in Gaziantep participated in the study. 11 questions were asked, 5 of which were to learn demographic information. With the data obtained, 7 themes were reached. Being a physician in Gaziantep is the first communication between the physician and the patient, the effect of the medical history on the decision-making processes of the physician, the effect of the patient and their relatives in the decision-making processes of the physicians, the communication problems of the physicians, the views on an ideal physician-patient relationship, and the expectations of the physicians from the patient and the health system. themes came to the fore. It has been determined that physicians have expectations from patients at the point of communication, as well as self-criticism, and their demands for regulation of the health system and improvement of working conditions have emerged.
