Analysis of the Iğdır copy of Şemseddin-i Sivâsî's mawlidabstract

Active during the 16th century, Şemseddin-i Sivâsî was both one of the foremost scholars and literary masters and authored a total of 24 works, including 12 works of prose and 12 works of poetry. The work of Şemseddin-i Sivâsî's that we have sought to address in this study is Mawlidi'n-Nebi, of which separate copies stored in various libraries have reached us today. However, the copy of this work written by a scribe living in the province of Igdır is the specific focus of our study. Interestingly, this copy had remained completely obscure until our study. After providing general information about mawlids, we give a recount of Şemseddin-i Sivâsî's life. In the final section of our study, we compare and contrast the 10 handwritten manuscripts and 5 machine-printed known copies of Şemseddin-i Sivâsî's Mawlid with the Igdır Copy.
