Abstract (EN)
Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancer types in both genders, as well as the most significant cancer death reason globally. Despite the rise in diagnosis and treatment technology and methods that lead to decreasing its occurrence and mortality numbers, the overall numbers are still high with a continuous search for better solutions. Cancer treatment through micro-RNAs has been in research for a few decades, where several miRNAs were discovered and utilized to alleviate and treat cancer cases. Through their promotion and inhibition functions for proteins and receptors, miRNAs have the ability to alter the cell growth and function according to their expression. In this research, an investigation is conducted to study the relationship between the expression levels of six miRNAs; miR-101, miR-339-3p, let-7g, miR-638, miR-375 and miR-124 and gastric cancer. The study depends on serum samples from healthy (control) and gastric cancer patients (experimental) in order to establish a referenced investigation with reliable statistical significance. Using real-time qPCR analysis, the results of the research show that miR-101, miR-339-3p, let-7g and miR-375 were upregulated in gastric cancer patients, in comparison with healthy subjects. However, miR-638 and miR-124 were downregulated in gastric cancer patients. Possibilities for diagnosis and therapeutic strategies for gastric cancer are discussed through using these six miRNAs.
