Examination Anxiety: A research on final level students at different secondary schools in Ümraniye town

In recent years one of the unprecedented topics is the university entrance examination and various worries that the candidates live prior to this examination. We are living in a century of examinations. It is not only that the people are affected by the examinations but they also decide about their lives according to their successes in these examinations. All of the education system stages such as entrance, allocation, conservation of the present status and the transition from one school to another are determined according to the examination results. It is, therefore, normal for a student to consider the examinations as a factor of treats and perception of feeling status. The main purpose of this thesis is to assess the relational dependence of various factors (gender, type of school, point situation of preferred career school, the life or death status of parents, their joint livings or divorces, whether the student has taken private training, attendance to extra classes, possession of brother or sister in the university) prior to students' examination worry levels and during examination worries among the final class students at various secondary schools (career, commercial, girl career, religious and general schools). In this research, questionnaire technique is employed, and the responses to the questions are processed by statistical software, SPSS. Reliability analysis, ANOVA (variance analysis) and independence t test are used in arriving to meaningful conclusions. According to the results of the analysis, the findings of students (informative, visual and general) from different schools are given as follows. In general, those students from the general secondary schools have examination grades that are less than other school students according to the point worries. This situation is in the favor of the students at general schools. On the other hand, the worries of the girls' students are higher than boys depending on the career grading type, whether parents are alive or not, they live together or divorced, they havetaken private training or not, attendance to private pre-university training centers, whether they have brothers or sisters at the present in the university). However, it is not possible to find significant difference.
