Abstract (EN)

In this study it is focused on voter behaviour occurring throughout the overall Şırnak province between 1973-1990. In this context, after investigating the general elections (deputy, referendum) in Şırnak, which was in the township status from 1973 to 1990, the general elections (deputy, referendum and presidential) between 1990 and 2019 in Şırnak, granted the provincial status, were analyzed in detail. The matters, such as political actors' age, gender, birthplace, educational status and political parties to which they are nominated, political party preferences throughout the province, election participation rates, shifts of voting, political range in which the parties are positioned, social and political environment that directs voter preferences, are criticized and tried to make sense on voter behavior through correspondence analysises. In addition, 2014 and 2019 local elections are tried to be understood in terms of the changes and transformations in voter behaviors, local and national political environment that directs voter preferences and unique dynamics, from a holistic perspective through the election results of Şırnak center and all districts. In short, Şırnak voters acted in the way predicted by sociological approach model in the general elections held between 1973 and 2000s, while they were involved in political practices according to the socio-psychological approach model from 2000 to 2019. Finally, in the 2019 local elections, the voter behaviors in Şırnak can be explained through a rational approach model.
