The relationship of work stress and organizational commitment: A research on seafarers

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the organizational commitment levels of seafarers working in the yacht tourism industry and work stress. The study consists of three parts. In the first part; Topics such as what the concept of yacht tourism is and general information about seafarers, the concept of organizational commitment, its dimensions, factors affecting commitment, its classification, approaches and the consequences of organizational commitment are discussed. In the second part of the study; Subtitles such as what the concept of stress is, stress symptoms, stages, types, sources of stress and the consequences of stress constitute the conceptual framework of the research. In the third part of the research, there is the part of the research conducted in order to examine the relationships between these concepts. The questionnaire form determined to determine the organizational commitment and stress level was applied to 390 seafarers working in the yacht enterprises in Marmaris district of Muğla. The data obtained in the study were analyzed with the SPSS 20.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. Among the statistical methods in the analysis and interpretation of data; Reliability analysis, percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, correlation, analysis of variance, independent t-test and correlation analysis were used. The most obvious result of the study is that there is no relationship between seafarers' organizational commitment and the stress they experience.
