Abstract (EN)

Title: Assessment of Sexual Life Quality and Performance in Women Under-going Total Hip Arthroplasty Surgery Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sexual life quality and performance in women and their partners after total hip arthroplasty surgery. Methods: The study included 60 female patients and their partners who un-derwent TKA surgery and applied to hospitals in Istanbul. Sexual activities of the participants were evaluated using the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale via survey met-hod at three, six, and twelve months after TKA surgery. Results: The ease of sexual life levels of the participants were 11.5% at the third month, 46.2% at the sixth month, and 81.7% at the end of the first year. The increase in mobility, which caused an increase in sexual life quality, was 21.4% at the third month, 62.5% at the sixth month, and 68.4% at the end of the first year. The differences in individual and partner/sexual activity-centered sexual life quality ac-cording to demographic characteristics groups were not statistically significant (p>0.05). The rate of patients with an average sexual life quality above the mean value before the surgery was 21.2%, and this rate increased to 61.5% after the sur-gery. The mean sexual quality level according to the Visual Analog Scale before surgery, which was 4, increased to 6 after surgery. Conclusion: The increase in mobility of individuals after TKA surgery signifi-cantly positively affects both sexual life quality and sexual life levels. Keywords: Total hip arthroplasty surgery, sexual life quality, mobility, pain
