Abstract (EN)
The modernization experience of Ottoman-Turkish society is considered and discussed more intensely around public life than in private in Turkish novel. Literary works that focus on historical events and social transformation processes also reflect the perceptions and tensions that arise at the individual and social level along with these processes. In this dissertation, in the selected nineteen novels written between 1863-1950, the perception of publicity reflected in the literary work with the reconstruction of public life by Turkish modernization, the reaction mechanisms and the patterns of privacy positioned against them will be tried to be analyzed. While doing this, the possibilities of sociology will be utilized and the projections of Sennett's Western-referenced attention points in Turkish novel will be opened to discussion, based on the sociality-contextual public sphere and publicity approach in Richard Sennett's The Fall of Public Man.
