Abstract (EN)
In order for countries to remain competitive in international trade, it has become increasingly important for them to prioritize research and development (R&D) activities. This study investigates the possible causal relationship between R&D expenditures and export performance in Turkey. The empirical methodology employed in the study is the Granger Causality Analysis. The analysis covers the period between 1996 and 2023, using annual data. The findings reveal a statistically significant and unidirectional causality from R&D expenditures to export performance in Turkey. These results support the structural impact of R&D expenditures on export performance. To enhance and sustain this effect, it should be supported by structural (long-term) reforms and implementations.
