Abstract (EN)
The One Belt One Road (OBOR) project is contained of the 'Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB)' and the '21st Century Maritime Silk Road (MSR)' together and its routes will link to more than sixty-five countries, around 35% of the global trade, over 62% of the world's population and approximately 31% of the world's gross domestic product. In the strategic port planning literature, it is envisioned that ports will update their plans according to comprehensive changes in the global economy. In this respect, the MSR especially OBOR, is one of the issues that should be addressed and studied in the long-term port plans for the next 10 to 30 years. Turkish Aegean Ports hasn't got comprehensive strategies to apply next 30 years with respect to the OBOR project. The aim of the dissertation is to present alternative strategies that can be applied to the ports in the Turkish Aegean region and exhibit the best alternative for Turkish Aegean ports, to show them how they can benefit from the project without excluding the SREB effect, in particular on the MSR. Swot Analysis was preferred to determine Swot sub-factors of the Turkish Aegean ports from the perspective of port authorities of the Turkish Aegean ports by using a semi-structured interview method. Alternative strategies that can be applied in the long term for the Turkish Aegean ports are revealed together with the TOWS analysis. In the analysis section of the dissertation, to select the best alternative strategy for the outcome of the TOWS analysis, the Analytic Network process method was applied. The result of the analysis demonstrates that ''Trying to be the main port along to MSR route'' is the best strategy for Turkish Aegean ports in terms of the OBOR initiative.
