Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to make an economic analysis, investment analysis, and efficiency analysis of broiler production in Turkey. The main material of the study consisted of primary data collected by the questionnaire method from 139 farms in Manisa, Balıkesir, Bolu, Sakarya and Mersin provinces, which constitute 57.12% of broiler chicken production in Turkey. Neyman Allocation method was used to distribute the sample farms to the strata according to the number of chickens. According to the results of the research, the average mortality rate was 4.40%, the average live weight was 2.61 kg, the average number of fattening periods in a year was 5.38 and the average fattening period in a period was 42.63 days. Production costs per live weight unit were calculated as 15.45 TL/kg, gross profit 5.73 TL/kg, net profit 3.98 TL/kg and relative profit 1.26. In the financial and economic evaluation of the investment in broiler breeding; benefit-cost ratios were calculated as 1.14, 1.24 and 1.35 in the I., II. and III. group farms, respectively. Internal profitability ratios were found to be 27.85%, 39.71% and 70.69% in group I, II and III farms, respectively. According to DEA, the average economic efficiency score of the farms for input is 0.87, the resource utilization efficiency score is 0.97, the technical efficiency score is 0.82, the pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency score is 0.91. The technical efficiency score of the farms for output was 0.82 and the technical efficiency score according to SSA was 0.92. The most important problem of the sector is the importation of feed raw materials. Domestic production of feed raw materials should be encouraged. It was also concluded that it is important for producers to form an agricultural organization related to broiler chickens in order to have a say in the sector. It was also concluded that providing training to producers on breeding would increase the efficiency of the farms.
