Contribution of Turkey in solar energy-related research:A bibliometrics analysis during 2000-2019

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate an overview of the contribution of Turkey in solar energy-related research using comprehensive bibliometric analysis measures based on data extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded in the Web of Science database from 2000 to 2019. The trends were analyzed with the retrieved results in the publication type, year, language, the characters of scientific output (journal impact factors, journal quartiles, citations), publication distribution by institutions, authors, subject categories and journals, and co-publishing countries. The results show that the number of the research in this field increased exponentially over the last two decades and international co-operation in Turkey and the characters of scientific outputs were discussed in detail using some bibliometric indicators such as h-index and the average citation per paper in terms of the widespread impact of the publications. On the other hand, this increase is not only limited to Turkey, but also is there a similar trend in other developed and developing countries. National and international cooperation in countries with China, USA, Germany, South Korea and Japan, which are the leading countries, is very high when compared to Turkey, and similarly, when the funding levels of research are examined, it is seen that this funding is limited by TUBITAK in Turkey.
