XIX. Century waqfs in Giresun city

By examining the waqf institution, Giresun, which is an important source for understanding the social, economic and cultural history of the Ottoman State, throughout the centuries, social, economic and cultural development has been tried to be demonstrated. City historiography in Turkey is far from the point it should be. However, the recent interest in this issue has opened the way for the investigation of history in terms of social, economic and cultural as well as the political history of the cities. Important work has been done on waqf in Giresun as a subject. However, the role of waqfs for a century in the city has not been taken as a whole. In this study, with the help of the academic works done besides the documents belonging to the waqf and the sources of the revolutions, The social, economic and cultural history of the century has been tried to be revealed by going beyond the political history.
